This page says plainly what Stronghold stores, because the short version is: almost nothing.

What the game stores about you

• A username you invented for this game. You are asked, on the sign-up screen, not to reuse a name from anywhere else.
• A password, which is never stored as you typed it. It is put through a one-way function (scrypt) with a random salt, so the stored value cannot be turned back into your password.
• Your kingdom: the game world, its history and your orders.
• A sign-in token kept in your browser's local storage so you are not asked to sign in every visit.
• Ordinary web server logs (IP address, time, page requested), which are kept only briefly for security and troubleshooting.

What it does not store

No email address. No real name. No phone number. No payment details. No location beyond whatever an IP address implies. You are never asked for any of it, and there is no field in which to type it.

Deleting everything

Inside the game, open the Command room and choose End my campaign. That deletes your account, your password hash, your kingdom and your sign-in tokens immediately and irreversibly. There is no copy kept afterwards.

Cookies and advertising

The game itself sets no advertising cookies and uses local storage only for the sign-in token described above.

This site uses Google AdSense to show a single banner advertisement, which helps cover the cost of running the game.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked before any advertising cookie is set, and you may refuse. Refusing is as easy as agreeing, and the game plays exactly the same either way. You can change your answer at any time through the same notice.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
• You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com, and about its advertising technologies at its ads policy page.

The advertisement is a single banner in one room of the game. There are no pop-ups, no video ads, no ads between turns, and nothing in the game can be bought or unlocked by watching one.

Children

Stronghold is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since the game asks for no personal information from anybody, there is none to collect.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, the UK, or a US state with a privacy law, you have rights to access and delete your data. The delete function described above does this instantly and without asking anyone. For anything else, get in touch.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
